BRIEF
Baroque & Classical Concerto – Schauman Hall, Jakobstad, Finland.
For this concert, we reimagined the Baroque through a contemporary, playful lens. Our commission included graphic design for posters and flyers, stage props, and lighting support.
Inspired by classical paintings—think Frans Hals—we created satirical figures by swapping their torsos with bovine heads, gently critiquing the toxic masculinity often present in the art of the era. These characters were later realised as cardboard cutouts on stage, complementing a projection of the Palace of Versailles interior.
Initially conceived as tall figures, we opted instead for slightly shorter-than-average cutouts, heightening the humour and creating a whimsical, unexpected reinterpretation of Baroque grandeur. The result was a visually striking, tongue-in-cheek celebration of history, art, and music—where classical elegance meets contemporary satire.
