ARMADILLO

Biomorphic. Compact. Affordable.
Emerging quietly from the landscape, this modern cabin draws inspiration from the armadillo—an architecture shaped by instinct and resilience. Its triangular geometry unfolds into a layered form that feels grounded yet alive.
Asymmetrical pitched elements with deep overhangs enhance weather protection and create a strong silhouette. Windows between structural “layers” balance solidity and openness, allowing ventilation and controlled natural light.
Externally, charred timber cladding forms a durable, textured skin, while internal wooden finishes soften the geometry, creating warm, intimate spaces shaped by shifting roof lines.
The result is a protective, expressive architecture attuned to its environment, combining clarity of form with material honesty.
External Footprint - 28 Sqm
With a height of 3.3 metres and a compact 28 m² footprint, the ARMADILLO pod suits woodland settings or urban kiosks, where planning requirements are often minimal.
It features fully insulated external walls in aluminium or timber cladding. Horizontal or staggered panels reference the animal’s layered armour, adding depth to the façade. Openings include a glazed or timber-clad entrance door and two wide, three-pane horizontal casement windows, with additional apertures configurable to suit client needs.
Internally, the layout is efficiently compartmentalised, with a combined cooking and dining area at the front and a living or sleeping space to the rear. Floor-to-ceiling glazing can enhance light and connection to the surroundings. Asymmetric internal walls are complemented by integrated shelving and flexible storage.
The ARMADILLO can be built in situ or delivered pre-assembled, offering a flexible and cost-effective solution. Distinctive yet adaptable, it adds a striking architectural feature to glamping sites, rural retreats, or private gardens.
The design concept of our pod collection is predicated upon the maximised use of space and light - but the design is far from set in stone.
If you require a bespoke design or would prefer different specifications of aspects like doors and cladding, we can accommodate your specific requirements.
We can also advise on best practices for delivery and installation with a free site evaluation; with this, we can determine if an in-situ build or pre-assembled delivery is required. So whatever your requirements, don't hesitate to get in touch.
